The Books & Story
1. What is the Roscoe's World book series about?
2. How many books are planned for the Roscoe's World series?
Roscoe's World is an action-packed children's historical fiction series following a boy named Josh and his dog, Roscoe. When a mysterious portal pulls them into another dimension, they embark on an epic time-traveling adventure to find their way back home. In this new universe, every historical figure they encounter—both friend and foe—is an alternate version of Roscoe! But there's a catch: a pair of villainous cats, Chloe and Ziggy, have also discovered Roscoe’s World. The feline duo is on a mission to conquer this timeline and create a world completely without dogs.
The Roscoe's World saga will span six volumes!
Volume 1 and Volume 2 are available now. You can collect each story part individually as it releases or enjoy the full journey in the complete volume editions:
-
Volume 1: Beginning Path (Part 1), Hidden Path (Part 2), and Homeward Path (Part 3)
-
Volume 2: Fearful Path (Part 4), Lonely Path (Part 5), Converging Path (Part 6), and Colliding Path (Part 7)
3. Who is the creator of Roscoe's World?
4. What is the reading format and layout style of the books?
Roscoe's World is entirely written, illustrated, and self-published by Joshua Marchant, who serves as the brand's web developer and creative designer.
The series features a unique reverse comic book layout style. Digital editions are delivered as fixed-layout EPUB files, which are highly optimized for readers like Apple Books, Google Play Books, Thorium Reader, and Adobe Digital Editions. We also have physical copies of the books in both parts and full volumes.
5. What historical eras are featured in Roscoe's World?
The series is a globe-trotting journey through time! As Josh and Roscoe search for a way home, they explore fascinating POIs (people and places of interest) across a massive range of historical eras:
-
In Volume 1, the adventure spans the history of Ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, Japan, the Mayans, Vikings, pirates, England, and early America—all while crossing paths with epic figures from Norse and Greek mythology!
-
In Volume 2, the world expands even further to the American Old West, Italy, Mexico, the ancient Olmecs, Paris, Spain, Rio, and Morocco, while diving even deeper into the magic and danger of Greek mythology.

While presented as a lighthearted historical adventure, the complete six-volume narrative framework is subliminally structured around the five stages of grief.
7. What is the real-life inspiration behind the series?

10. Does Roscoe’s World use AI?
8. Has the Roscoe's World series won any awards?
Yes and no. We understand that AI is a complex topic with strong feelings on both sides. Regardless of where you stand, AI is becoming a permanent part of the digital landscape and ignoring it entirely would be a missed opportunity. Our policy is simple: AI is a tool, not a creator. For us, AI is purely a back-end organizational tool. We use it behind the scenes for historical research, outlining, and brainstorming. However, let me be perfectly clear. We do not use AI to generate any of the actual books, artwork, or designs related to Roscoe’s World. Every piece of final content is 100% human-made by Joshua Marchant.
Yes, Roscoe's World won First Place at the Book Fest Awards in the Best Children's Historical Fiction category.
9. What software is used to illustrate and format the series?
The books are illustrated, formatted, and animated using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically relying on Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
Games & Companion Activities
11. Are there companion activity books for the series?
12. What is the "Where in the World is Roscoe?" game?
Yes! Roscoe’s World is built on a unique rule: whatever happens in the main storyline affects everything both inside and outside of the books.
Because of this, the series includes multi-style coloring & activity books. As readers solve these games and puzzles, they actually follow along with the events of the Roscoe's World story!
"Where in the World is Roscoe?" is an 8-week interactive social media Alternate Reality Game (ARG) scheduled to run from February to March 2027. Players act as digital detectives to solve clues to help Josh find Roscoe's location in time. Players will have an interactive hub here on the Roscoe's World. Only one detective will win the big seasonal prize after solving all the clues, finding Roscoe and becomes the winner.
